PhD Program in International Relations
The PhD program in International Relations at Istanbul Medeniyet University is designed not only to provide students with a specialized understanding in two semesters but also to encourage them towards original research and to develop a critical perspective. The primary objective of the PhD program is to train students who will specialize in a specific area within the academic world.
In addition to this, professionals working in different fields or those who wish to prepare themselves for their targeted professional careers are also welcome to join our PhD program. Applicants are not required to have an undergraduate degree specifically in international relations to be eligible to apply for the program.
The courses in our PhD program cover many areas within the discipline of international relations. The program includes courses in economics, law, politics, diplomacy, as well as regional and security studies, energy, environment, human rights, and migration. Therefore, upon successful completion of the International Relations PhD program, graduates will become individuals who have specialized in a specific field, can produce original ideas, conduct research based on primary sources, think and write analytically, and develop arguments, allowing them to stand out in their respective fields and in the academic/professional world.
